The Blackpad is the newest rumor about Research in Motion. The Blackberry DevCon keynote speech will probably be used to announce this new product. Some news online websites are reporting that a fully functioning machine will be previewed. Others say the Blackpad is nevertheless in initial development and won’t even be discussed. With or without an announcement, the Blackpad can be the stuff of rumors.
The Blackpad’s spot for RIM
Enterprise has not been easy for Research in Motion, maker of the Blackberry, lately. Governments and high-security businesses were the original target of Blackberry device. Though that niche is relatively small, Blackberry and RIM did very well serving it. Though they were not the target market, everyday consumers started purchasing Blackberries as well. High security features don’t always match really well with consumer-friendly features. This can be a challenge RIM has always seemed to struggle with. With more customers defecting to Android or Apple devices, RIM and Blackberry need a big seller to keep their stockholders happy.
What the Blackpad will consist of
The Blackpad is, in short, an iPad competitor. The user interface of the Blackpad can be based on touch. The biggest challenge for RIM is that the Blackpad device probably will not be ready for DevCon 2010. The details of the machine may well be discussed, however. The screen will probably be 7 inches, though 9.7 is also a possibility. The Blackpad will contain a video camera. It is possible that two will be incorporated, for video conferencing use. The biggest news is that Blackberry is developing a new operating system just for the Blackpad. You may not even need a no-fax payday loan to purchase one; the price may be lower than the iPad.
Who’s the Blackpad for?
Research in Motion has stated that they wish to remain a business-based company. This does not mean they’ll shun everyday customers. Amazon could be creating a music application for the Blackpad. Blackberry said they could be targeting this system to all customers. Blackpad will have one major competitive advantage. If a 3G Blackpad is released, it will not be tied to just one cellular network. In function, this means you will not have to worry about a single cell phone carrier. There will be numerous other competitors to the Blackpad, using the Galaxy Pad by Samsung, also as the WePad.
